Aapo getting things done

After some issues with our schedule we managed to start the vocal recordings on February 5th at Kalle’s personal studio room. Two additional days were then needed to complete all tracks and finish the album. After doing the re-ampings of the guitars the vocals were pleasant to record.

The key points in recording the vocals were to increase the interpretation on the lyrics and thematics, use a wider scale of different techniques and also take a much more rythmical approach, get a decent sense of variety throughout the album, and to better the clearance and pronounciation of the English language (Also German). Aapo’s voice had also clearly improved in comparison to Delirious Tales, and with the help of Kalle’s and Pekka’s expertise the outcome is really awesome! We used the legendary Shure SM 7B studio vocal mic.

Recording the group vocals was a lot of fun and was really fast. Not many parts were necessary, because we used much more doublings with only Aapo singing in different styles. Keeping that in mind the group parts work very well, as they represent the fact that thrash metal is about having fun with the music when it goes to darker places and thematics. And that part we certainly nailed! Assisting with the parts alongside Aapo and Jesse were Kalle and JC Halttunen of I/O fame.

Oh yeah, now this bad boy is completely recorded and is being mixed and mastered by Simo Pussinen. Not long before you guys get to hear some stuff! The album’s gonna be – in the words of HIMYM character Barney Stinson – LE-GEN-DA-RY!!!

Stay tuned – and most importantly – stay thrashed!
